Senior Prom Night

Once a year in February, the Performing Arts Center at Centennial High School is transformed into a Valentines prom, replete with balloons, 17- piece Big Band Express and over a hundred ballroom dancers.

The Senior Prom, an annual event sponsored by Circle City Rotary, was first developed to give seniors whose war service kept them from their High School proms a recreation of that experience.  The event has been part of the Club’s community service programs for over a decade. Months ahead of the event, the Club begins to receive communication from seniors, the Corona senior center and numerous senior residences to confirm that it will be held and to request tickets.

Attendees enjoy a true Prom experience, complete with corsages, prom photos, dinner, and dancing to a “big band” sound. Dancers are energetic and talented, most dancing every dance and demonstrating moves that would make Arthur Murray proud. Throughout the evening, drawings are held for a rich array of door prizes.

Dinner for the Senior Prom has graciously been provided through the years by Miguel’s Sonora Style and Cantina. Maria (Mary) and Miguel (Mike) Vasquez, owners of Miguel’s restaurants, were crowned King and Queen of the Prom in 2008.
